Happy Friday everyone! I’m particularly excited because after today Jamie and I will be on vacation and I don’t have to return to work until June 2nd! Yay! Anyway, I walked around the garden to see what was blooming and decided to post a few pictures for you.
This first picture is daylily ‘Fragrant Treasure’. She was added to our garden last summer. I love the pale yellow color.
‘Champagne Waltz’ is giving us its first bloom this year.
I was looking through photos online and I saw this iris, I said to myself that’s our ‘Pink Lady’! But they weren’t calling it that so I got on line to look it up. Nope, it’s not her and since I don’t remember what page I was visiting I have no idea what her name is.
'Maudie Malcom'
This is a wild Gladiolus that is native to Alabama. We dug it up in the woods at our friend Carol’s House. It’s called ‘African Parrot’.
'Fairytale Pink'
'Pandora's Box'
'Honeycomb'
'Oranges & Lemons' Gailardia...
This is an un-named Daylily that we got at a tiny nursery in the middle of nowhere. Anyone recognize it?
I love Shasta Daisies and we have three different cultivar. This is ‘Becky’ and ‘Crazy Daisy’. I don't think you could have too many Shastas.
I guess we’ll finish up with a vivid ‘Lollypop Yellow’.

Just stunning color here! Congrats on the extended vacation, everyone needs one of those. As far as the "neat" edging around my gardens, that's funny you would say that, it drives me insane! I use a shovel to get the sod out and once that is done I have clippers in my hand everytime I venture out there and just cut the runners back when I see them, and of course the push mower gets close too.
Thanks Darla! Well, your borders look great! :-)
Have a wonderful vacation in a great state! :-)
Is that unnamed daylily 'Rosy Returns'? Not sure myself as I don't always see the details that distinguish all the different daylilies.
Lovely blooms! Now, go relax.
Cameron
Cameron,
It's more of a red than a pink. With the thousands of daylilies out there we will probably never know. My mother is going to have surgery the middle of the week so I'm not sure if we are going to make it out of state or not. It's a very simple procedure, but with the condition of her health I'm concerned about her being put under. Jamie and I are going to discuss it more tonight. It will be a very quick trip if we go.
Absolutely love the colors on Champagne Waltz, I will try to remember the name incase I should find it. The Shastas are great. I have none so definitely need to get them.
Marnie
Marnie,
The 'Champagne Waltz' I've seen online are more yellow. I'll keep my eye open for you here. If we don't find one for you we can always divide this one when it gets some growth on it. :-)--Randy
LOVE the glad!!!!! Stunning!!! I have that same daylily, as well as my neighbor, but I don't know the name, and it is HARD to figure it out as well. Have a WONDERFUL vacation. Where are ya'll off to?
What a bunch of lovelies you have blooming right now! Have a great vacation.
I love that creamy pale yellow of the lily ! .. I was going to say could it be "Strawberry Candy" for the mystery lily .. it sort of reminds me of mine .. I have Rosy Returns and it doesn't quite look like that .. what gorgeous blooms you have right now and congrats on the nice long holiday break : )
Yay, pretty! Is honeycomb a butterfly bush? Sometimes I just make up my own names for plants if I don't know what they are, LOL! Have fun during your time off work!
Gorgeous blooms! I can't believe your Honeycomb Butterfly Bush is blooming already. You are way ahead of me, my white one is about 4 1/2 feet tall now but no buds yet. I cut it back to 12" from the ground every spring. That unknown Iris (Pink Lady?) is gorgeous too. Happy Gardening this weekend & enjoy your time off! :)
The gladiolus is beautiful! I hope you have a LONG and RELAXING vacation. See you soon!
DP,
Jamie and I were just walking around the yard and notice that there is a stalk on the glads that is complete different from the others. I’m going to get a picture of it tomorrow if the rain doesn’t ruin it.
Tina,
We are going to try our best to have a good vacation, I just keep thinking that there is so much we need to catch up on around here…
Joy, it could be anything LOL we will probably never know.
Monica,
Honeycomb is a butterfly bush, isn’t it pretty? I love it, it’s my favorite on in bloom right now.
Racquel,
It pretty much stayed green all winter here. So it had a head start I think.
Hi...Your day lilies are wonderful. Only my yellow ones have opened up! I think that they will all pop open while I am out of town! Isn't that the way it goes! Have a good vacation! gail
Ah, vacation... the most beautiful word in the English language. :)
Fragrant Treasure looks like a treasure indeed. Lovely. The no-name Japanese iris is a stunner. Wow.
Your garden must look vibrant! At first sight, I thought it belonged sunflower family - the Gaillardia! It looks great - wonderful color. And the Crazy Daisy! That's really crazy. Have fun, you both!
You have some stunners there, Randy and Jamie. That is a pretty and unusual gladiolus. I love seeing new things on other people's blogs, though it usually makes me want them, and I am running out of garden real estate.

Always Growing
I didn't know there was a native gladiola. It is beautiful. All of your flowers are just beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful vacation. June 2 sounds like it is far away. Enjoy yourselves.
Enjoy indeed! As always, thanks to you all for the gracious comments. We're so glad to have you all stop by the blog.
I'm looking forward to a very relaxing and serene week off of work, as is Randy! Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day holiday!

Have a wonderful vacation, R and J. Hope you don't miss too many of your daylilies blooming. We share Fairytale Pink and Pandora's Box out of this group. We have Heavenly Treasure, very similar but more melon colored, same form. We have several that have no names so we just name them ourselves, with some reference to where they came from. Maybe the name of the nursery with another descriptive word? I would love the job of assigning names to plants! :-)
Frances
Oooh, just love all of them...'Honeycomb' simply shines--is she buddleia? Her leaves look like it to me. I also think 'Pandora's Box' is a lovely lily...and I could go crazy over 'Crazy Daisy'!! They are all stars in your garden;-) Hope you guys are enjoying your vacation!
