The Bully

There was a big time bully at the bird feeder this weekend and he did not play well with others. I wanted to go thump him oh his little head and tell him to be nice!

Hi Guys ! Hope you have been well and in good spirits : )
There is always ONE of these bully birds around isn't there ? .. we have three finch feeders (a new type too in a sock sort of contraption .. quite in genius actually) so squabbles have been kept down to a minimum .. so far ?
Great action pictures btw !!

Wow- you captured them in the bully stance for sure. I guess birds can still be a lot like people when they feel like it. Maybe their housing market crashed and he's having a bad day:D

Maybe mom pushed him out of the nest too early? (You know, everything is the parents' fault, lol!)

What outstanding pictures. I have never seena siskin act like this before. This one is definitely full of those spring hormones. Protecting his territory. Some girl siskin will think him a fine catch.

There always seems to be one around. Did you take these with your new camera?

Joy,
We are doing just fine, thank you. We have five feeders, but that one seems to be the popular one for some reason.

Heather,
Welcome to Our Eden! He may have been the one trying to build a nest in my blue bird houses. If that's the case he could very well be having a housing crash. LOL

Monica,
What ever the case, he was in a "fowl" mood. Ha! Ha!

Lisa,
Some girls to go for the bad boys, don't they. :-)

Marney,
Where have my pretty yellow males gone? They were changing colors now I don't see them anymore. These aren't them are they?

Phillip,
These were taken with the old camera. My new one should be here tomorrow or the next day. I'm getting excited, but it has a lot to live up too where my old camera is concerned.

There is one in every bunch! Great timing capturing these shots! I would just be happy to see a bird in my yard!

Good Lord but those are dramatic shots. LOL I agree with Lisa, I think he's got a bit of testosterone.

It's funny to watch them do that sometimes. Last week, I saw a parrot bullying a crow! Now, isn't that so weird? But here parrots rule! Birds usually do that to establish dominance whenever a new member comes into their territory. Of course, not all are territorial, like for example finches.

Every year we get a humingbird, and it's always chasing any others out of the yard.

Zach,
Thank you very much! Every now and then I get lucky. :-)

Dirt Princess,
We are loaded up with birds right now and I’m really enjoying having them around.

Darla,
Do you think it would help if I had a talk with him?

Sweet Bay,
I think he suffers from anger management issues!

Mouli,
Finches could be territorial. I’m sure there has to be some dominant males out there.

Wayne,
Hummingbirds are the worst when it comes to fighting, with their squeaky little chirps!

What great pictures! I've seen the same thing happening with the siskins at my feeder. This is our first year for so many siskins (I was told some kind of crop failure in Canada forced them down south much earlier than usual). They are insatiable and quite the bullies!

Fantastic capture on the photos...You would think that with 5 feeders there would be room to go around! I guess birds can be pretty aggressive during mating season!
