Hello Yellow

Daffodils

Is it just me or does yellow seem to be a very dominant color in spring? The color Yellow symbolizes renewal and hope so it’s only appropriate that it be a leading color in spring. In Elizabethan England, by law only the wealthy were permitted to wear this color. Holistic healers believe yellow is the color of peace. Studies in psychology suggest it increases concentration, that’s why legal pads are yellow. It also speeds up metabolism. The list goes on and on… I also read yellow is the most difficult color for the eye to process so it can overpower other colors if overused. Everywhere I look the garden seems to be filled with yellow.

Forsythia

Here are the same old yellow irises you guys see in spring of every year. These guys seem to bloom forever in our garden. They sporadically produce flowers until fall.

This tattered ‘King Alfred’ daffodil caught my attention for some reason. It’s still holding its color despite the wind beating it relentlessly against the rock behind it. I felt such diligence should be rewarded with a photo.

The weather was just perfect outside yesterday. Our new baby, Maxx was enjoying the spring day too. He seemed to be particularly interested in the scent of the ‘Ice Follies’ daffodils. This photo was a complete accident. I was actually taking a picture of the yellow iris when he decided to take a sniff of the daffodil.

Maxx

Maxx can sniff the daffs all he wants I prefer the scent of the jasmine.

Is yellow a dominant color in your garden? I love it, yellow can bring sunshine to your garden even on a cloudy day.

What a handsome boy Maxx is. He has the right idea. Gotta see what the Master is doing. Must learn, therefore do not dig holes in the garden with him around. They learn that trick so quickly. Sigh~~
I love yellow so I doesn't matter to me if I see your Yellow Irises a hundred times. Yellow certaily lifts the spirits during spring.

In the spring, yellow is my favorite color. Later as the heat builds toward summer, I appreciate cool pinks and blues more. I think that yellow is associated with sunshine and therefore much loved in the spring.

Beautiful dog. We had a miniature schnauzer years ago, Fritz:)

Congratulations on your new Fur Baby Maxx! He is a handsome fella and will fill your lives with much joy. Can’t wait to see more of him on the blog…

Yellow is a color I seem to over look for some reason. I don’t see much yellow in my closet and must change that after reading of the long list of positives yellow offers…

I love yellow. I used it in my sunroom because it is such a happy color. The Forsythia is my very favorite in the spring. I don't know why I haven't planted any yet. Maxx is so adorable. What a cute accidental picture! Carla

I love Maxx! What a sweetie!

Now, your flowers are beautiful but you really got my attention with your new baby.

My garden is a late-spring riser! My daffodils are pale yellow and the first blooms just opened yesterday. I have blue scabiosa, deep pink loropetalum and rose phlox subulata in bloom. The show won't start in my garden until mid-April.

I would never get tired of seeing that pretty iris! You are lucky to have one to enjoy now. Love the pic of Maxx. My Pixie is a flower smeller too but too fast to get a pic of!

Well, I don't have much yellow yet. I do have redish hellabores in bloom, and a single purple dutch iris, but the dafs are close. Don't you have hyacinths? they add a lot of mixed color to the spring garden.

Wayne,
We do have Hyacinths, but they've been in the ground a few years and they really are doing that much anymore. We should probably get some more.--Randy

Maxx says to tell you all he's blushing from the compliments. :-)--Randy

I am in love with Maxx !!
If ever I was to get a little sweetie like that it would be this one (no .. I'm not going to dog-nap your baby boys ! LOL)
I had the most wonderful experience as a babysitter (a few ? years ago) with two brothers of this breed that were totally adorable : )
Your yellow really shouts its colours and they look gorgeous .. we have a way to go yet sadly .. it is COLD here this morning Brrrrr!

My garden is mostly shady, so it's hard for yellow to dominate, that being a color that seems to thrive best in sun. But I do love yellow for its happy connotations.

You have an iris blooming already?! The picture of Maxx is adorable. We had a Miniature Schnauzer when I was growing up.

Actually, right now yellow is the pre-dominant color in the garden just now, because the daffodils are the main flower in bloom! It'll quickly switch over to violet-blue and pink in the next couple of weeks.

Love your Irises, Randy, as ever and those Daffs are lovely too.
I read about your boy, Maxx in Jamie's Blog. He's so cute and cuddly. I see you love him so!

I have an aversion to yellow (http://casaconiglio.blogspot.com/2007/06/yellow.html) but your photos are so gorgeous that I may change my mind!

Thanks for the visits everyone! I'm afraid I've been out of town on a family emergency for a few days without internet access. I apologize for the late response. I hope you all had a good weekend!-- Randy
