The much needed rain finally came. For the past three days we’ve managed to get some substantial rain fall and I’m sure the garden appreciated it. Yesterday, I decided to walk around and take some pictures of the thankful flowers. After I had downloaded them to the computer I realized that with the exception of one photo, everything that is blooming right now is Red, Orange or Yellow. I don’t usually like to repeat photos of the same plant, but with some of these I just couldn’t decide which ones I liked best. Today the words don’t seem to be coming as I type, so why don’t we enjoy the flowers and save the conversation for another day.
'Red Cascade'
'Chicago Apache'
'Stephanie'
'Rocket City'
'Firefly'
'George Davison'
In other news, yesterday the skipper butterflies and a humming bird finally showed up in the garden. I hope they stick around for a little while.

Who needs conversation with photos like these? Beautiful.
Red, orange and yellows ARE the colors for summer so your garden is doing well. The rain looks so refreshing on the flowers. Glad you got some!
Your photos are just gorgeous. I was outside this morning taking a photo of my Chicago Apache plus some others blooming now. I think the hot reds and yellows are just perfect for mid summer. Your camera does a good job with reds.
Marnie
It ok to sit quietly with friends and enjoy nature. This has been a most enjoyable visit.
Darla,
Thank you!
Tina,
With three days of slow rain the ground should be softer. That means time to work on the new bed.
Marnie,
It really just depends on the light with the red. But now, my trust old DSC-F717 picked up truest red you have ever seen in a digital camera. It has a failing lcd screen on it so I only pull it out for special times.
Lisa,
Sometimes the quiet times are the most special ones. :-)--Randy
It seems to me that certain times of the year, certain colors dominate. It could just be my imagination.
Phillip,
I was just thinking the same thing earlier. :-) You know what they say, great minds.
Wow, the 'Chicago Apache' and 'Rocket City' are just beautiful, Daylillies, right?
Jake
I can hear them singing "Hallelujah"
Hey There, The flowers are gorgeous. Some of them look like some of ours --maybe a little different, and with different names.
Glad you got some rain, Randy.
Hugs,
Betsy
Glad you finally got some good rainfall. You seem to have more blooms than I do. I think the high heat from early June affected the flowering of a lot of plants. Love your daylilies.
Jan
Always Growing
Randy, your camera really takes great pictures! I just got a new Kodak EasyShare Z1015 IS, but my pictures don't seem to be as clear as yours. What do you use?
Well, Duh!! I just saw where you posted what your cameras are on the blog. I checked them out and now I wish I had done that before I bought mine.
Jake,
Rocket City was especially pretty this year for some reason. Good thing it does it’s blooming before it becomes swallowed up by the banana!
Dirt Princess,
It sounded like a choir of angels! Hey BTW would you just believe I found out I had comments on Blotanical? I thought it would let me know by email. Sorry I didn’t get yours way back.
Betsy,
Some of those daylilies can be so similar you can’t tell them apart.
Jan,
I think you are right. I did do something to the blooms. We don’t have nearly as many as we should this time of year.
Marilyn,
The Macro setting on the cameras does all the work. I just point and shoot; thankfully the new camera has a thing that compensates for shaky hands too. L
Damn! You make me oh-so envious with those hot, sizzling daylilies of yours!
Hot colors for hot weather! You've outdone yourself with this photos. They are incredible.
Mouli, you should grow some!
Sweetbay,
Thank you very much. The camera does all the work, I just point and shoot. They are getting so advanced, sooner or later we won't even have to do that.LOL--Randy
I echo the others with the great photos... you DO have an eye for the angle and the capture... no camera can do that for you! Always a pleasure to see what you have blooming and then how you frame it up for us to admire.
That rain is so precious when it comes to a thirsty garden and then it adds another level of quiet beauty to photos. Just beautiful.
Love the colors, too. And what a great capture of the hummingbird. I honestly don't think I've ever seen one (in person) sitting still like that. And you have skippers!... the others are close behind... I just know it.
Meems
They are gorgeous, Randy, you've captured them so well! You could show the same photos and flowers over and over again and I wouldn't mind~~their beauty needs to be admired. Gail
these are just beautiful! you should link yourself into FF!!! You got some wonderful photos of the blooms with the rain on them!!!
Have a good weekend...I am off to see if the frost touched any of my blooms...I know...July 10 and Alberta had a frost warning???? hello....Mother nature???
Meems,
When we do finally get humming birds they seem to like hang around. they always perch on the arbors and trellises for some reason.
Gail,
I'm so glad you enjoyed the photos! You always leave such thoughtful comments.:-)
Tootsie,
I can never remember to post on specific days. LOL I've been trying to remember Bloom Day for over a year now and still can do it! LOL --Randy
ROY looks great in your garden. Hot colors for a hot summer. And, wow, what a great hummer shot!
I also enjoyed your story about how you began gardening, Randy.
Pam,
It's good to see you! We've missed you around here. Everyone gets so busy during the warm months.--Randy
What, no purple? I've got a lot of it. :)
