In Your Dreams

'In Your Dreams'

In Your Dreams

Tall Bearded Iris ‘In Your Dreams’ is in its second year of blooming in our garden. I can hardly wait for this beauty to get large enough to start sharing it with other gardeners. It was introduced in 1999. According to all the literature I’ve read on this Iris it is supposed to be a mid season bloomer, but as you can see it’s blooming on the third day of spring. To me, that’s not mid season. LOL It bloomed the same time last year. The blooms are said to reach a height of 3 to 4 feet, so far ours have stayed about two feet tall.

Mid season for New England perhaps! I take the bloom times as guesses for our gardens...just like companion plantings. What blooms together in the NE does not bloom together for us! When ever it blooms...it is a lovely iris! Oh to have the full sun some of these beauties crave. have a delicious day in your garden. gail

Beautiful Iris- I think they would look wonderful with the ones I have already in my garden, maybe I'll have to look for these. I guess they couldn't wait to display their glory! Happy spring!

What a beauty. Someone gave me a similar looking iris many years ago. It has bloomed very nicely for me but much later of course. Iris fans are just hitting about 6 inches here

Randy, I really think you could have a successful career in flower photography. That is beautiful.

The iris is really pretty, but in my dreams, I placed a shower curtain over my vegetable bed to warm the soil (that's what comes of reading Organic Gardening tips before going to bed!). ;-) P.S. Bearded irises usually bloom in early June around here, which is more or less mid season for us (with things starting to bloom in April at the earliest).

Ok I am starting to get jealous here...I must admit!!!! I think is it the wonderful photography, well no it is actually that your irises are blooming. Ahhh how nice. I do have 2 buds on mine and any day now I will come home to beautiful blooms...then I will try to capture my irises beauty the way Randy does...don't know if I can do it...but I will try. it almost looks like a painting. Great work :)

Gail,
Dutch irises have always done well for me in the shade and there are tons of different ones to plant. :-)

Happy spring to you Tessa and welcome to Our Eden!

Lisa,
The real show stoppers around here will be the un-named pinks and lilac colored irises that will bloom in a couple of weeks.

Phillip,
Flower photography is easy, the flowers do all the work. :-) Thanks!

Hang in there Monica, April is not very far away! You'll be in bloom in no time! BTW did you know they have full episodes of Gardening by the Yard on HGTV.com?

Dirt Princess,
Post pictures when they bloom! I love irises.

Thanks Cameron!

That's wonderful! First the Iris reticulata over at Catherine's and now your bearded Iris! Man I'm in love with Irises!

Love the subtle blends of color. Your iris may be in a micro climate that is warmer than other areas of the garden. Just a thought but it might be a good thing this iris isn't 3 or 4 feet tall. My tall beardeds lean and fall during any wind or heavy spring rains. Too much height for the slender scape. I'm concentrating on adding the ones that only get 2 feet;)

I just love the bearded irises. This one is very charming and early too. It seems most stuff is very early this year. A welcome picture I think.

I also wanted to comment on the redbuds below. I love that Forest Pansy. Yours are looking great! They are only now beginning to show a wee bit of color up here. Spring seems early this year. Have a great day!

Oh, she's GORGEOUS, and would be welcome in my dreams, which are currently full of Yet. Another. Snow. Storm.

Wow that is a beautiful iris. The foliage on mine is about 6" tall right now. The iris is one of my favorite flowers. The blooms are wonderful and then the foliage adds interest throughout the summer.
Happy Spring!!

Hi Randy, what a beauty, but I have found Iris are so often mislabeled, or just don't meet the specs in many ways. Yours is lovely though. I really enjoyed the photos of the cercis. Those are the best shots I have ever seen of them! Thanks for showing the differences in colorations. Hope you get your whitebud soon, too. For spring, we worked outside all day!

Mouli,
How well do Iris grow in you area? They really are beautiful flowers.

Marnie,
I know what you are talking about. We have several that we have to stake every spring. Speaking of I need to get some bamboo sticks before they start blooming. BTW all of my male finches have disappeared! Where did they go?

Tina,
Around here is seems like everything is about a month ahead of schedule. That’s okay, it’s just longer to enjoy the garden!

Jodi,
I know you are getting so sick of the snow. I really enjoy what little we get down here, but even I would be tired of the that large amounts you get.

Cliff!
It’s always good to see you make an appearance around here. How’s the waterfall and pond coming?

Wow Frances!
What a nice compliment on the redbud photos! They’re still looking good; I was admiring them thru the window yesterday afternoon. BTW I’m counting down the days until I get to eat ice cream at The Hop. ;-)

Sweet Bay,
So glad you paid us a visit! I wish we had as much land as you guys do, we would fill it full in not time. LOL

Wayne,
I’m glad you like the iris! I can’t wait to see some of yours in bloom! You are going to stay at home long enough to take some photos of them aren’t you?

It sure is a beauty! I planted some Miss Saigon and hopefully I will have the luck with her as you have with your pretty...

You sure do have some color going there. Looking good!

Actually, they don't or I'm not sure if they would. I'm still on the hunt for it.
