Happy Holidays!

Christabel

I hope this post finds everyone well, happy and enjoying the season. I got a jump start on spring this year and already have a large portion of the garden cleaned up and ready for the new growing season. The parts I haven’t cleaned were still blooming at the time. I started way behind this year because of the back surgery I had in February. I’m hoping next year is going to be a much better year for me and the garden. It’s really been neglected the past two years, but if the good Lord is willing I plan on whipping it back into shape next year. I’m looking forward to filling some empty spots where shrubs have died and adding a lot of annuals. Meanwhile, Mother Nature has already sent me a spring bloom in the middle of winter to keep me encouraged. Check out ‘CHRISTabel’ blooming in the picture above. Kind of appropriate don’t you think? Since CHRISTmas will be here in a week. This little beauty has been around since 1934 and the world is a prettier place because of it. I have several irises from the 1930's and I would love to expand my collection. Happy Holidays, Ya’ll!

Randy,
Sounds as though you have been extremely busy, hmm, you just might have some free time in the spring to motor up to Virginia and help here, hmm. I think the stunning iris is a holiday gift to you from the garden for all the hard work you have put in. It was good hearing all is well in your world and I am wishing you the best Christmas ever, and it looks as if the New Year is going to be spectacular for you with the heralding of the Christable Iris. Happy Holidays – gary

So good to see that you are out and about Randy. Your garden will be thrilled to have you back too. We have had some spring bulbs popping up here even. Tooo weird is this weather. I won't complain though. I rather enjoy being warm this time of year. I wish you the happiest of holidays and a healthy new year. Big hugs...

I am so very glad to see that you have returned to blogging. I know that gardening is your passion and I remember how therapeutic it was to get in the garden and toil in the soil. I hope that the holidays are treating you kind. Send my holiday greetings and well wishes to your family for me.

P.S. Do I see the winter daphne in the background of that picture? It tickles me to see that it's still thriving!

It's so much fun...all the planning for next year. I love the idea of the lights for the Crepe Myrtles. I agree about the Sweet Autumn Clematis...it can get a little overwhelming after a few years!
