In the Garden 05/24/11

Chorus Line

I walked around and snapped a few pictures in the garden yesterday. The photos below would give the appearance everything is lush and green around the garden. The truth is, this very dry spring is taking a toll on it. Even with a drip system there are crispy plants everywhere. Only the diehard plants are thriving. The day lilies are looking very ragged and stressed and we haven’t even gotten into the season good yet. The plants just aren’t where they should be for this time of year. What happened to the April showers? I’m going to give the garden a little TLC this coming week and see if I can’t nurse it back around to a happier place. We just need some good, steady rain. Looks like this may be another summer of losing plants and crispy grass.

On another note, the photo blog is finally up and running. Blogger never responded to my support request so I just decided I would rebuild the blog, give it a peak sometime. The following photos were taken in the afternoon so they aren’t the best, but I hope you enjoy them anyway. God Bless~ Randy

Little Mystic Moon

Marigolds

Hi Randy,
Sorry things are so 'crispy' down your way. Much of the country is drowning in rain. We cannot control the weather so we live with it and make the best of what we get, right?! My lilies, beebalm and milkweed are not yet blooming but I do have 1 echinacea that is looking about ready to open up. I often take my photos in the afternoons too...sometimes it's a little too bright but we take them when we can;-) (Your photos are actually great!) Wish I could send you a few of our thunderstorms. We're having them every day this week. No tornadoes though, thankfully. What a mess that is right now in MO. SO sad.

I'll cross my fingers for you to get rain...in the meanwhile, you are way ahead of us around here! It will be at least a month before I see any Echinacea or Monarda blooms! Love that pink Monarda...is that 'Aquarius'?

It is fun to see what is going on in your garden Randy. It gives me a preview of what will happen here soon. Love those daylilies. Beautiful photos. You will have to be doing a rain dance it seems.

Scott,
It's Grand Parade 'ACrade'. It gets just over a foot tall. :-)

Your garden is looking great! The temps are rising and the rain is disappearing. Too early for that, but better than tornadoes.

Hi Randy, Your garden is looking GREAT... Can't wait 'til some of our daylilies and lilies bloom... Those little marigolds are so sweet.. Marigolds are the first flowers I ever planted when I first got married.

Have a great evening.
Betsy

It is dry, and it is getting hot. We desperately need some rain...a good rain. The water compnay called my mom today and told her to cut back on her water cosumption (meaning turn those sprinklers off)
